Toledo: 50,000 told to shelter in place before dawn. The three steps they were given

On the night of Oct. 20, a chemical tank leaked in north Toledo, Ohio. At 4:22 a.m. on Oct. 21, everyone within three miles was told to shelter in place: stay inside, close all windows and doors, and turn off ventilation that brings in outside air. The lesson worth keeping: an order like this can come before dawn, miles away. On iPhone, check that Public Safety Alerts are switched on (Settings, Notifications, Government Alerts), and walk everyone at home through the three steps.
